Intensive Prep for MAP-M and MAP-R

Test date: Early Dec (MCPS)

Students: Grade 8

6 full-length Exams + Reviews

Schedule:

MAP-M: Wednesday (4:30-5:45)

MAP-R: Thursday (4:30-5:45)

Benefits: The test score determines the admissions  into regional criteria-based magnet high school programs.

Objective: Designed to help ambitious students fully prepare for MAP-M and MAP-R, this program offers 6 full-length mock exams to build student confidence.

Feature: We help students tackle assessments using critical thinking and mental problem-solving rather than relying on calculators or digital tools.

Like PSAT/NMSQT, this test is delivered digitally, but it has several distinct structural differences:

  • Developed by NWEA, these are formative diagnostic assessments to track individual academic growth over time and identify specific skill gaps for classroom instruction or academic placement.
  • Item-Level Adaptive: Every single question gets harder or easier based on whether the previous question was answered correctly.
  • RIT Scale (typically 140-350). Equal-interval scale independent of grade level.
  • Untimed (students work at their own pace; typically 45–60 min per subject).
  • 40 to 43 questions.

The resulting scores provide tangible benchmarks to help students navigate their future college choices with confidence.
