Two Brothers in One Path of Success: 1540 + 1550

We first enrolled in the SAT summer camp when my older child was preparing for the SAT during the summer between 10th and 11th grade. We were specifically looking for a rigorous, in-person SAT prep program that would ensure full engagement and accountability, and we preferred an intensive format rather than something spread out across the entire summer. I was already familiar with the positive reputation of the after-school tutoring program and was encouraged to learn more through your website, as well as a recommendation from a friend who had enrolled.

My older child completed two SAT summer camp sessions over the summer (four weeks total). The program was described as highly structured, with strong teacher quality and effective repetition that reinforced key concepts. At times the pace felt monotonous, but the consistency ultimately proved to be one of the program’s strengths. I also appreciated that all of the work was completed during class time, with no homework required, which made it much easier to manage alongside other summer activities.

In the months leading up to the SATs (August, September, and October), my child supplemented the program by completing all of the free digital practice tests from the College Board. This proved to be an excellent complement to the in-person, paper-based instruction. There was no additional tutoring or prep, and the result was a 1540.

My second child, just one year behind, followed a similar path and also attended the SAT summer camp, completing one session (two weeks) between 10th and 11th grade. This kid attended with classmates, which made the experience more enjoyable. The group was able to carpool and even walk to Travilah for lunch together. My second child also followed an older sibling’s advice and used the free digital SAT practice tests afterward.

Initial scores for my second child were 1540 across August and September sittings. When the school later offered the SAT again in March at no cost, the test was retaken without any additional preparation, resulting in a 1550, including a perfect 800 in math. There is consideration to take it once more this spring to further maximize the verbal score.

Both of my kids saw significant improvement from initial scores in the 1300s, and I am very happy with the results, gains of over 200 points each. More importantly, both kids developed confidence and familiarity with the test that carried through multiple sittings.

Both kids describe the program as intensive and demanding, with long summer days when social time would have been preferred, but ultimately very worthwhile. The instructors were consistently described as strong, and the focused, immersive environment stood out. The instruction is also tailored at the competency level. Preparing a student aiming for an 800 in math is meaningfully different from supporting one targeting a 500, and the program appears to recognize and address that distinction well. Taking the course alongside classmates also made a meaningful difference in the overall experience.

Having lunch provided on-site (pizza and noodles) was a significant plus for me as a working parent, as it removed the need to plan and pack meals each day. At the same time, my kids appreciated having the option to walk to Travilah for lunch with friends. That balance felt ideal for high school students, convenient when needed, while still offering independence, fresh air, and a bit of social time during long program days.

One initial concern I had was the lack of computers and explicit focus on the digital SAT format. In practice, this was not an issue. Students today are already comfortable with digital tools, and the transition was seamless once students began working through the official digital practice tests.

Overall, this SAT summer camp is a highly effective, disciplined approach to SAT preparation that delivers strong, measurable results. I would strongly recommend it to other students. One additional suggestion would be to consider offering referral incentives or discounts, as this is a program many families would naturally and enthusiastically recommend to others.
